1843 Christmas Evening Gown in White and Gold with Snowflake Pattern

I’m listening to the Librivox version of A Christmas Carol (specifically this version, which is wonderful). Since it was published in 1843, I thought I would do an 1843 style gown. Besides that, though, I let it go too late and I don’t have much else to write tonight!

That’s an extremely hard question. Since I can’t choose just one Cursed Sister, I think it has to be Goldberry’s dress: http://www.joechip.net/liana/2009/10/09/halloween-lotr-costume-series-6-goldberrys-green-gown-with-gold-flag-lily-belt/
The original is even better – it’s a divine shade of green. And I’m such a sucker for green ^^ Merry Christmas to you too!

The dress is AWESOME!!!!! I wish I could draw like that… Have you ever thought of having one of these dresses made?

Pretty ^_^ Merry Christmas Liana! Hope you have a good one and get everything you hoped for ^^
I’m always a sucker for your green dresses too, Goldberry’s is one of my favourites.

Merry Christmas!
I dunno about Liana, but I’ve considered making some of her dresses in barbie size. And now that I know her favorite (aside from all the cursed sisters) I can make a Goldberry barbie and send it to her, mwuhahaha!

Side note: It’s fun to say “mwuhahaha” while wearing a santa hat and jingle earrings. Just so you know.

Merry Christmas Eve, everyone!
I love how the snowflakes sort of blend in with the dress. As usual, it’s very pretty. And although I’m not much of an old-fashioned, poofy dress kind of girl, I really like this Christmas dress. Probably because it’s the holidays and Liana’s dresses are just that beautiful.

Thanks, everyone!
Cake, when I’m doing something based on a particular time period, I look at gowns, fashion plates and so on from then, then try to draw something based on my understanding of the styles. I always look at quite a few sources, but for example, the big one for this one was an 1843 Godey’s Lady’s Book: http://books.google.com/books?id=ddcRAAAAYAAJ&printsec=frontcover&source=gbs_ge_summary_r&cad=0#v=onepage&q&f=false
As the clothes aren’t copied from one particular dress or drawing, I try to specify that they’re done in the style of a particular year and may not be perfectly accurate (and anyways, this one’s pattern removes it from consideration as accurate anyways!) but I’m comfortable with how close I come.

So, totally, beautiful! My mom made it across the room in about 0.3 when I turned the laptop around to show her. I want one…
