Well, just off the top of my head, when I think “grey” using Prismacolors I think of the full range of grey colors available — that is, the 90%, 70%, 50%, 30%, 20% and 10% of one grey color range. The one I like best is French Grey, which is the one I did Friday’s nightgown with, because it’s a nice rich grey and it works the best with the blender for me. (Come to think of it, I’m missing French Grey 20% and get really grumpy about it every time I remember.) So I use all of them (well, not usually 90%) to layer on the grey. You’re right, I’ll put up a tutorial, it’s hard to describe :)

It’s hard to believe I’ve had my set for so long — must be longer than 10 years now. I got the full set at once, Mom waited until there was a 50% off coupon from Michael’s. There’s a core group of maybe twenty-five pencils I go through like mad (Tuscan Red, Black, the middle range of French Greys and so on), maybe about fifty I’ve had to replace a couple of times, and the rest are originals that I just use a little bit or not at all. (The neon colors and the metallics, especially, remain just about pristine. They look great on paper, but middling scanned and I never did experiment much with them…)

Yeah, I have a couple different types of pencils, but my nicest ones are Prismacolors- not a full 120 set. I’m slowly working my way there through incremental means. I have a few dozen left before I get to the full 120.

Hi RLC, I was thinking of this comment as I drew the outfit for Friday… Actually I find whites a little frustrating, so I’m tickled to hear “amazing” applied to it ;) I’ll put up a tutorial sometime soon, though, thanks for the idea. Do you use Prismacolors too?

It’s cool you’re getting more traffic. I’ve always enjoyed this site. Your shading on white is quite amazing and is something I can’t seem to quite master (and a lot of poor paper dolls have suffered because of it). Any chance of a tutorial sometime? Please?
