Think good thoughts for our cat

Our beloved cat Maggie had to go to the vet tonight at 1 AM, and the upshot may either be a pinched nerve or more serious damage. We’re pretty doting cat parents and very worried for her, so please keep us all in your thoughts today.

Here are some pictures of Maggie, leading off with everyone’s favorite:

Sitting on her perch with her head off the side in what we call “depressed teenager” mode.

Here with our other cat, Harume.

The early years.

Update (noon Sunday): she had a spinal fracture, and she’s no longer with us.

Her hind legs went all droopy, she looked like a squid out of water when she scraped around the floor. I really hope she’s OK.

And that was the cat that was.

If the vet can’t figure it out, see if you can’t find a vet who does animal chiropractic and/or acupuncture. Sounds goofy. perhaps, but what my vet was writing off as “probably arthritis” in my dog (chronic bad limp) turned out to be a spinal misalignment causing a pinched nerve.

I’m sending good thoughts to your cat.

I’m so sorry. I didn’t see the update before I wrote that last comment. My deepest sympathies.

  5. Liana Says:

Thanks, Marcia… Yeah, when we were there at 3 AM, they didn’t notice the spinal fracture, but when we checked back at 11, they did. I really appreciate your posting, thank you.

So sorry. Such a beautiful kitty, I know you must miss her terribly. My black cat Cypress died a week ago, and you have my sympathies. She’d had lymphoma for a long time, and it turned out to not be as under control as we’d hoped. But we were fortunate to have had a lot of good years with her. I’m trying hard to focus on that, but it’s not easy. I’ll be thinking about you and Maggie as well.

I’ve been delightedly following your work since the Paper Doll Boutique days, so you know.
