Google Reader [1]
The new Google Reader is very impressive — the gmail-style keyboard interface is magic for feed reading, and there are a couple other rabbits in the hat:
“Next” bookmarklet — load this into your browser, and click it to load the next updated, unread item out of your feeds. It’s the invisible feed reader interface.
Shared items — reblog is dead. Here are my shared items as a pseudo-reblog or as a feed. (Perspective: reblog is awesome, but I would rather teach someone to publish via Google Reader than via reblog. If and when Google Reader lets me annotate shared items with a sentence or two of context, it’s over.)
The big problem with Google Reader is that it doesn’t understand authenticated feeds (yet). Of course, reading your authenticated feeds in Google Reader only make sense if you don’t mind sharing your “private” junk with the hive mind.
